Advocacy Priorities
As part of Unity for Children's mission, we aim to advocate for improvements in policies and enforcement to ensure that children are consistently prioritized. Failing to address these issues systematically can contribute to preventable risks during children’s most vulnerable developmental stages.
It is time to reassess current approaches, strengthen the enforcement of effective laws, and invest in sustainable systems. It is our responsibility to create nurturing environments for children today, breaking the harmful intergenerational cycle in our society. Doing so will enable our children and society at large to flourish in the years to come.
Ensure children are protected from harm and supported through consistent, reliable care that promotes long-term safety and stability.
Address domestic violence and coercive control as child safety issues, protecting children and non-offending caregivers from exposure and harm.
Promote transparency, professional standards, and child-focused practices within child welfare and other child or family serving systems.
Center the lived experience of children, survivors, and caregivers to inform programs, policies, and decision-making.
Advance trauma-informed and healing-centered approaches in all child-serving systems to prevent re-traumatization and support long-term recovery.
