Empowering You. Bridging Systems. Healing for All.
Unity for Children’s Pilot Training Program
CENTER OF HEALING
About the Program
Children affected by intergenerational cycles of trauma often navigate fragmented systems, leaving critical gaps in protection and support. The Center of Healing pilot program is a trauma-informed and healing-centric training initiative designed for professionals who play a critical role in the lives of children affected by abuse, neglect, parental substance use, and domestic violence. Our mission is to equip those with authority or a role in shaping a child’s safety and well-being with the knowledge, skills, and collaborative tools to guide children toward safety, stability, and healing.
By combining evidence-based strategies, specialized training, and cross-system collaboration, the Center of Healing empowers professionals to make informed, child-centered decisions that break cycles of trauma through healing and empowerment.
Why is this important?
Fills Critical Gaps
Empowers professionals who play a role in a child’s life through specialized training programs rooted in trauma-informed, evidence-based practices. By reducing fragmented approaches that leave children unsupported, the program equips participants to make informed, child-centered, and healing-focused decisions.
Promotes Well-Being of Support Network
Integrates strategies to prevent secondary trauma and offers wellness resources, helping child’s support network stay healthy and effective in their roles.
Encourages Collaboration
Acts as a hub for peer learning, allowing professionals from different organizations to share best practices and lessons learned.
Advances Statewide Standards
Connects trainers, resources, and programs across Illinois, promoting coordinated, trauma-informed practices and raising the standard of care for children.

Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) stands as an unaddressed public health crisis, demanding our collective attention with compassion, leadership, and urgency. Addressing this issue head on with us also supports the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4 and multiple global commitments, including those to prevent violence against children and all forms of violence across the life course; improve maternal, child and population health and well-being; build healthy, stronger and resilient communities; and reduce health, social and gender inequalities.
Your partnership not only drives tangible change but also addresses a pressing issue that requires a united front for a meaningful and lasting impact. Together, let us confront the root causes of this challenge with a shared commitment to the well-being of those affected by ACE, fostering a brighter and healthier future for our communities.
